I rolled the dice on the ProPunch even though it has low average rating. What standout for me was that It's rare nowadays to find a time clock at this price point that doesn't depend on the cloud or subscription. Some notes:It reads fingerprints, PINs, or 125 kHz RFID cards. We only use RFID. A 100-pack of RFID cards is under $20 on Amazon. They shipped a unit with Euro power adapter... twice. In the end, I ordered $7 U.S. power adapter and moved on with the setup: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VQHYGRD.The system actually involves 2 components. The biometric time clock hardware is provided in the box and then you need to install the ProPunch server software on your own computer and connect the two together. I used a Beelink mini PC dedicated to this task (About $300).I was impressed by the thoroughness of the settings available to conform to how different companies set up their time clocks (rounding, holidays, shift scheduling, overtime..etc) To that end because there's a lot of things to configure, the quality of documentation is quite important and I think they've done a really good job. Also I found a surprise benefit in the way they designed the system: It turns out the server software it written in a Mysql/php Laravel stack so the source is all accessible. When I have question about how something is actually implemented I could just point Chatgpt at the codebase and let it find the answer straight from the source code. It's super nice. This is something you'll not be able to do with cloud based software.Bottom line:If you’re tech-savvy and hate paying endless fees, this thing is a steal. Buy the right power adapter, spend couple hours setting it up and enjoy a solid punch clock without ongoing fees.
